Intro time!

You can call me K, ケリー or Mochi.

• K is an abbreviation for my first name, which I use as my name for all creative endeavors, such as drawing, animation, and writing.
• ケリー is my name as pronounced in Japanese.
• Mochi is a Japanese rice snack. It became my nickname as an extension of the name Mo. Mo was my nickname thanks to a summer camp friend; hers was Bunny. It turned to Mochi thanks to my boyfriend, who thinks Mo isn't cute enough alone. Luckily, I think mochi are tasty.

If you come up with another nickname you think is suitable, run it by me and maybe it'll stick.

Some basics: I'm 20 years old, female, studying Japanese and Visual/Media Art at Bennington College, currently on a term abroad in Hirakata, Osaka, Japan. In the future, I'm aiming for a career somewhere in the movie/TV area.

I like to learn languages and travel. Current count of languages studied is at 4 (if you count Latin). Count of countries visited is somewhere in the area of 12. Although I live in Japan right now, I'll be moving back to the USA in late May.

I like comics, fantasy, sci-fi, magical realism, alternative fiction, computers, and a vast expanse of music. Current fandoms include Doctor Who, R. Scott Bakker's The Second Apocalypse series, Final Fantasy, David Mack's Kabuki, Twin Peaks, Satoshi Kon's Paprika and Millennium Actress, and Boston Legal. Past fandoms that I still like include Cowboy Bebop, Harry Potter, Bleach, Mei-chan no Shitsuji, Firefly, Last Exile, and Gokusen.

I am looking to make new friends over here on Dreamwidth, and to find people who are fun to interact with, and be creative with. Especially I'd like to meet people who might be interested in collaborating on comics/books/video/animation.

I'd also like to meet people who speak my foreign languages! So, if you speak Japanese, Spanish, Italian, or Latin (maybe?), come talk to me! Similarly, if you are learning English as a foreign language, I'll be happy to talk with you, and we can share our experiences.
